Profiles 2006-7 Season

The Gaffer Norman Milne
Norman Milne -GAFFER The Boss, The Gaffer, Sir, Mr Milne and I believe he is also a gynaecologist due to his perchance for a particular word. Norman is exceptionally passionate about this Club and it really has rubbed off on his charges, the speech on the DVD before the last match of our cahmpionship year was reminiscent of any Oscar winning battle movie (Braveheart, Gladiator, Troy) albeit with a XXX certificate. The Club has definitely changed in his time and is no longer competing at the lower levels and looks set to strive to the very top. Norman in his playing days scored a couple of goals against his beloved Arsenal for Sutton Utd in a pre-season friendly and went on to coach at both Dagenham and Weldstone. In Norman's time at the Club there has been an improvement in virtually every player and this must be very satisfying to man who is so passionate about the future of Eaglesham Amateurs.
Craig MacDonald 2nd Team Gaffer
Craig MacDonald - 2nd Team Gaffer- Duck took over the 2nd Team reigns last year after the resignation of Paul Duggan and has worked hard to push the team forward. Last season he managed to get a few creditable results, however, he really struggled to get a consistant squad to make any real impact on the league. This year he is being assisted by Craig McMaster and Paul Graham and is hoping that this will allow to the team to finally compete well in this division.
Viki Bottomley - Chief Trainer
Viki played international hockey for Ireland and won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games and is now a lecturer on sports fitness at Glasgow University. Her pedigree is amazing as is the depth of her knowledge in sports fitness and injury. The training sessions she takes have made a big difference to the Club in the past few years and she is one of the most important members of the non-playing staff. She was rewarded for her work last season by being presented with the Campbell Scott Memorial Trophy for her services to the Club. Mind you someone should buy her a watch that keeps better time...
Gary Anderson
Gary Anderson - Gary is a new arrival to the Club and has already shown that he has a decent touch. He is left sided and has performed well in pre-season matches. He has competed well this season and after some fine performances appears to have made the left back role his own.
James Baird - Joey has been at the Club since its inception in 1929 and has been a first team regular for most of those seasons. He has started this season well with a superb commitment to training that is having a very positive effect on the younger players around him (I think that includes everyone?). Joey is exceptionally versatile and his power is going to be vital for the 2nd Team's chances this season. He is a former treasurer of the Club and has been one of those pivotal in its survival over the years.
Stuart Barr - As a goalkeeper Barr is completely nuts. He missed a large part of last season due to the birth of his daughter, hwoever, he is already showing that he is back this season and will be challenging once again for PJ's 1st Team jersey.
James Birrell
James Birrell - Birrell is one of the Clubs most prolific attacking players and will be hoping once again to feature in a good league challenge for the 1st Team. Last year he was the Club's 2nd highest scorer and he will hoping to bag plenty more this season.
Jerry Brown - Bomber is Back! What can you say about this true legend of Eaglesham Amateurs. Jerry has featured at the Club for the last six years and has been instrumental in any success we have had including the 2000 League Cup Final and the 2005 Premier League 2 triumph. He missed a large part of last season, through injury, which many see as the reason the team did not quite clinch the promotion we hoped to achieve. He is a major addition to Norman Milne's squad this year and everyone is delighted to see him back in the red and black.
David Byfield
David Byfield - David has now increased his role at the Club this season by taking over as the Match Secretary due to Martin Hamilton stepping up to Club Secretary. Davie is a striker who takes instruction exceptionally well and hopefully this season will see him banging in a few goals for the 2nd Team.
Danny Cox - Signed into the start of this season from Hamilton Danny had an indifferent start and seemed to lack the confidence needed for a goalkeeper at this level. However, since establishing himself as the 2nd Team keeper his performances have improved and he has filled what has always been troubled position for the side. He is an excellent shot stopper who reads the game very well.
David Cunningham
David Cunningham - Old chocolate legs is training hard ready to spend another long season on the sidelines. David is one of the best players our Club has to offer, however, his appearances have been extremely limited due to a succession of injuries. Everbody hopes that this year he finally manages to put in the sort of season that his ability deserves.
Cubby
Andrew Cuthbertson - Cubby has been at the Club since the days of Paddy Dunn or so it seems. Still in his early twenties he has been one of the most dependable players over the years and this is shown by his two player of the year awards. He is a no-nonsense defender who will be pushing hard for as many appearances in Norman Milne's 1st Team as he can.
Ian Dahms
Ian Dahms - Last season was a rollercoaster for Ian has he put in oustanding performances for the 2nd Team. This led to call ups to the 1st Team but sadly he could never put in the performances expected from the management. This year, however, he has exploded onto the scene and is one of the 1st names Norman picks for his side. His talents are undoubted and hopefully there are many more years of the Dahms magic to be enjoyed by the Hams supporters.
Greame Davidson
Graeme Davidson - Graeme has been at the Club a number of years now and he is widely respected by players and management alike. Off the park he is the member of the committee responsible for all our very successful social and fundraising events. On the park he is a very solid player that can either play at the back or in the heart of the midfield. After struggling back from long term injury he'll be hoping to make a big impression this season. Has been crticised in the past for his habit of going off on "mazeys".
Alan Dunning
Alan Dunning - A current Scottish Amateur Football internationalist Alan is one of the most accomplished players at the Club. This is now his second spell after he left to play for Queens Park and Ayr Utd. He is a fantastic talent and has really battled with injury this season. He is a vital player in the continued rise of the 1st Team.
Stuart Dykes
Stuart Dykes - Stuart is a midfield player by trade and has impressed the 2nd Team management with his performances. He has recently also showed that he is able to effectively in goal when the needs arise. He is a true team player and looks to have a great future at the Club.
Shane Ward
Michael Gowans - The young Mr Gowans is probably the fastest player at the Club. His impressive run of form in the 2nd Team last year has seen him permanently promoted to the 1st Team squad this term. He is a great personality and gets on well with everyone at the Club.
The moany ginger one
Paul Graham - Every season at Eaglesham Paul has featured prominently in the 1st Team and also had a spell at Irvine Victoria (juniors). He returned to the Club and has committed himself to the 2nd Team for the coming season, due to the birth of his first child. Paul is a highly qualified football coach and is instrumental in teaching tactical awareness and skills to the 2nd Team squad. The only criticism everyone WILL have about Paul is his a moaning .....
Derek Hamilton
Derek Hamilton - After a spell in France Derek has returned to the Hams a far more accomplished player. His pace and skill make him a real tormentor of oppocistion defences and long may that continue for this popular young man.
Martin Hamilton
Martin Hamilton - Martin has had nightmares with injuries over the past couple of years but looks as if this season that may all finally be behind him. Martin players either up front or out wide and has an electric turn of pace. He'll be hoping to return a decent goals tally for th 2nd Team this season.
Stuart Hill
Stuart Hill - The Rock is now in his second spell at the Club and the last few years have been among the most successful in our history in no small part to this most influential of players. He is totally passionate about the game and is a born winner, however, this same attribute has led to a number of over eager challenges that have seen him accrue probably one of the worst disciplinary records in recent memory. However, without Stuart at the back and scoring up front the 1st Team would certainly be lacking.
Pocket Rocket
Steven Inglis - After a season at Maryhill Juniors Stevie has now returned to his beloved Hammies. His electric pace lit up the league in his last spell as he destroyed the Premier 2 opposition as we recorded our first league success in many years. He'll be hoping once again to gain an impressive goal tally and have the team challenging for the top league.
PJ
Paul Johnstone - "Scotlands Number 1!" was the recent chant and Paul has truly lived up to those chants. Having worked his way up through the squads this young keeper has now established himself as the 1st Team keeper and looks set to hold on to the jersey for quite some time to come.
Alan Kyle
Alan Kyle - Alan has once again started the season stricken with injuries that have meant he has been unable to make any appearances for the team. We are hoping this nippy striker will return to bolster the 2nd Team cause.
Neil Kyle
Neil Kyle - One of the most consitant players at the club over the past few years. He has continued to appear for the 1st Team at the back and has continued to impress the gaffer. Despite his grey afro Neil is a young player and has a great future at the Club.
Robert Lamont - Robert came to the Club from east Kilbride to assist the gaffer in the 1st Team and has been instrumental in the teams motivation to lift the title a couple of seasons back. Mr Motivator will hopefully continue his vital role and bring new great achievements to the Club. Lets just hope he doesn't put his head into attack mode to often???
Brian Little
Brian Little - Brian is as Eaglesham as they get having prgressed from every level possible in the village he has now achieved a regular 1st Team berth which he richly deserves. despite his light frame he is a very competative player with a real flair for the unexpected. One who will help the team to prgress further over the next decade.
Graham MacKenzie
Graham MacKenzie - The youngest and self confessed best looking of the MacKenzie clan, Graham has been at the Club for longer than his years and boyish good looks may suggest. Having first appeared back in 1994 he is now in his twelfth season as a Hammy, despite only being 28. So there could be more to come from this midfield workhorse. Also he scored in the league cup final this year at Maryhill.
Skipper
Jamie MacKenzie - What can you say about THE CAPTAIN? Jamie has epitomised everything that is great about this Club over many years and is continuing to do so. His commitment to training and work ethic on the park stand as an example to many younger players and hopefully he still has more left in the tank this season and beyond? Jamie has announced his retirement every season for the last five so don't believe him if he tells you he's quitting this year.
Local Hack
Stephen MacKenzie - One of the most technically gifted defenders at the Club, he has an extremely layed back attitude that allows him to breeze effortlessly through matches. Some would say he is from the Beckenbauer mould but others would say its just general lazyness from this veteran campaigner. He is performing well for the 2nd Team this season and has been instrumental in their new found competative edge.
Danny Murphy
Derek MacLachlan - This season has finally seen Derek shake off his Enigma tag. For years Derek was unquestionably one of the most talented players at the Club but most gaffers struggled as to where to best use his talents. However, this year he has made a stake for the right of midfield and has been once of the 2nd Teams finest performers this season. He really deserves immense credit for the work he has put in at training this year and the resultant performances he has been able to put on the park. Hopefully, some of the younger members of the squad will take some guidance from his total "professional" attitude this season.
Ker Manson
Ker Manson - Ker has this year managed to push himself more into Norman's plans for the 1st Team with a lot of hard work at training. Regretably he has managed to sustain a serious facial injury that has ruled him out for some time. We wish him all the best and hope he returns to the side soon.
Darren McGrory
Darren McGrory - Darren is a very versatile and physical left sided player that has been plagued by injuries over the past couple of seasons. Without doubt he would be a regular in the 1st Team squad if he managed to sustain a d spell of continued fitness. He certainly has time on his ahands and will certainly feature prominently for the Hams in years to come.
Scott McMaster
Scott McMaster - Treasurer, game show host and most eligible bachelor (until recently) Scott has done well this season to make himself a regular pick as right back for the 2nd Team. His partnership with Derek MacLachlan down the right side of the park has been inspirational in the teams new found form.
Paul McNairn
Paul McNairn - He's electric, Paul has is a very talented and pacey young player who is making a major impact in his first year at the club.
Andy McQuade - He is now back from Australia and is looking once again to find his place in the team. An ever popular player he will undoubtably shake off the aussie rules and get himself back in the side.
Alan Nelson - sadly Alan has missed all of this season through injury and the young striker looks unlikely to feature this term. Here's hoping next season is better for him.
The Neldog
Colin Nelson - Despite Nelly's age his is fast becoming a legend at Eaglesham Amateurs. His commitment to the cause is faultless and he is a player you would always want in your side. Last years player of the year award was truly deserved and hopefully despite his injuries he will be able to contribute to his own high levels for the remainder of the season.
Ian Shand
Ian Shand - Shandy has one of the finest touches at the Club and on his day can be the match winner for the side. However, he has been a victim of the 2nd Teams success as he has struggled to get as many appearances as maybe his talents deserve. Hopefully we have still to see the best of Ian Shand in a Hammies jersey.
Stuart Syme
Stuart Syme - Stuart is without a doubt the finest midfield player at the Club. His commitment to the challenge and quality of his play mark him out from the rest. Still only young he looks to have a fantastic future at the Club and is undoubtably one of the players that Norman will plan to mould his future sides around.
JT
James Thomson - Possibly the finest goalkeeper at the Club (except PJ of course ;-)) he has decided he'd prefer to feature as a centre half and has done well for the 2nd Team which has led to several 1st Team call ups. He is a fantastic challenger of the ball and gets it clear like all good centre half should. He is an ideal guy to have about in case the keeper is unavailable.
Iain Watson - Ian has battled all season with serious injury and is hoping to once again appear for the Hammies. His commitment is an asset to the team and hopefully he can out together a few performances before the end of the season.
