Once again the Player of the Year Dance was held at the Eglinton Arms Hotel and once again the quality of service was nothing short of immaculate. Our thanks goes out to them and everyone else that was involved to make this an extremely enjoyable evening for all players and supporters attending. The awards were this year presented by Mrs Skipper herself, Mrs Mackenzie.
The 1st Team Manager, Norman Milne, listed 3 or 4 players who were in with a shout of the Managers Player of the Year Award adding that they could all be proud of their endeavours over what ended up being a fairly disappointing season for the 1st team. Alan Dunning was praised for his level of skill and his commitment when he chose to delay his holiday (sending off his missus alone early, only to fly out two days later) in order to play in the cup final. The players and management all recognised this massive commitment. Andy Williams was also mentioned after having a fine first season with the club in which he has cemented his place as an important first team regular. The manager however awarded his award to the ever present Neil Kyle, stating that he would struggle to find a more committed player than his no 4. Neil has only missed 5 games in the 3 and a half season in which Norman has been at the club. Congratulations goes to Neil for pipping the other players who must have came close to winning this award.
The 1st Team's Players Player of the year ward was again won by last years Player's Player winner Stuart Syme. Stuart is one of the outstanding players at this Club and fully deserved the award after some battling performances in the engine room for Norman Milne's side.
This year the 1st team's top goal scorer was Steven Inglis, reclaiming the prize he won during his last stint at the club.
The 2nd Team Managers Player of the Year award went to the highly skilful Derek Hamilton. The wee winger has been very much appreciated by Craig MacDonald over the season, with some truly class performances.
This year the 2nd team showed its appreciation to one of its most committed players by presenting him with the 2nd Team Players player of the year. Paul Graham has put in many hours on the training field lending his coaching skills every week allowing Duck to concentrate more on player motivation and selection.
The 2nd team's top goal scorer was the karaoke king himself, ginger Paul Graham.
The Campbell Scott Memorial Trophy was presented to Craig "Duck" MacDonald for his efforts as the 2nd team manager. It has become a friendly battle with Hamilton FP for the last few years as to who would not finish bottom of Division 2, but this season, with a very young team (with a few older and balder exceptions!), Craig has managed to drag the team to within 1 point of 2nd place and a very well deserved promotion. The club is delighted with Craig's ability, commitment and character and see the 2nd team as going from strength to strength. Congratulations to Craig.
The Young Player of the Year award was presented to Darren McGrory who had vastly improved over the year becoming a standout for the 2nd Team. Just a pity about the hair!
Congratulations to all our winners and here is hoping that everyone is looking to put the work in that is required to get these prestigious awards next year.
